Point-to-pointing is intrinsically linked to hunting.  Point-to-Point horses must have hunted for a least four days in order to take part, while riders have to be certified by the Point-to-Point Authority in order to take part.  Horses that are not full thoroughbred can take part in members’ races at point-to-point meetings.  The sport of point-to-point is amateur horseracing over fences with registered thoroughbreds. The point-to-point season typically runs from late November until mid June. Each meeting can host up to seven races, which are around three miles in length.
